On Monday Jon Stewart tackled the crisis in Ukraine over MH17 tonight, but not before taking a very obvious, if indirect, shot at all the people who’ve been yelling at him over the past week about his Israel/Gaza commentary. Stewart got flak from Mark Levin, a Times of Israel editor, and a few others for making light of the situation in a way that made them think he was mocking Israel’s ability to defend itself.
And how did Stewart respond? Well, every few seconds, whenever he tried to bring up Israel, all the Daily Show correspondents crowded ’round Stewart to shout like maniacs at him. Jordan Klepper even shouted “Self-hating Jew!”, a line occasionally used against Stewart by his angriest critics.
As for MH17, Stewart mocked all the conspiracy theories and Russian denials of involvement, especially the fact that the safe route for planes to travel now is apparently over Syria. Yeah, that Syria
Then Jon Stewart ripped into how the GOP is attacking Obama for his response to Russia over the downing of Malaysian Airlines Flight 17 by invoking a mythical version of Ronald Reagan.
Jon Stewart interviewed Doha-based Al Jazeera English correspondent. In June, an Egyptian judge found six Al Jazeera journalists, including Turton, guilty of allegedly broadcasting false news reports.
