UNO Tashkent. In the spotlight. Launch of a new «Eco Bags» campaign

The launch of a new «Eco Bags» campaign dedicated to the World Environmental Day was held on 5th of June within the EcoWeek 2014. UNDP, UN Volunteers in partnership with «Korzinka.uz» supermarket closely collaborated to raise awareness about efforts to contribute to the protection of environment by appealing consumers to use environmentally friendly bags.
According to the statistics of the «korzinka.uz», around 60 thousand customers take out 2-3 plastic bags a day from the market, thereby not realizing the huge risk to the environment increasing day by day.
«Eco Bags» is totally social project which unites not only youth but also private sector and UNDP. Thus, the development of the concept and design of eco-bags, ideas for their promotion were fully implemented by volunteers – active and progressive youth where the most important three campaign was the trigger to the launch of this bags.
