Pine Leaf Boys’ Cajun music Gets Uzbekistan Dancing

The universal power of music was exhibited through the U.S. Embassy’s cultural envoy, the Pine Leaf Boys, who were in Uzbekistan from June 25-July 1, 2012. Uzbekistan was the last stop for the Cajun music band, whose Central Asian tour also included time in Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan.
Thousands of people attended the Pine Leaf Boys’ free concert at the amphitheater of Tashkent’s Turkiston Hall on Saturday, June 30, 2012. Locals of all ages showed up to listen to the band play and many young people were quick to get up and dance in front of, and sometimes even on, the stage.
