This is is a very inexpensive book scanner. It is easy to make with readily available materials – mainly plastic plumbing pipe. But despite its simplicity, it captures book page images very quickly, and has a fail-proof operation. It is also very kind to the books, and so can be used on rare or valuable books without causing damage.
The whole unit apart from the plastic platen can be carried in a suitcase. I am working onda revised plastic platen which can then be carried flat.
