One of the priorities for UN is achieving universal access to health, and improving the livelihoods of people through better healthcare. The organization has assisted Uzbekistan to achieve population health and reduce health inequality through innovative whole-of-society and whole-of- government approaches since the early years of the country’s independence. The UN in Uzbekistan also aims to see through the implementation of MDGs 4-6, thereby reducing child mortality, insuring maternal health and combatting non-communicable diseases. Dr.Asmus Hammerich, the WHO Representative talks about the results achieved so far in five broad areas of healthcare in Uzbekistan.
